Why Twinkle Little Star?

Here is the background behind the birthday party theme for K:

This is one of the Christian songs we sing to our children in the cradle roll class.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky

God has made you what you are
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

The cradle roll class in the congregation I'm with, is a Sunday School class for babies from birth to about 3 years old. I am a regular in the cradle roll class because my children are 3 years apart by age. This means that when Ch was "promoted" to the nursery class, I had to attend cradle roll with L. When L "graduated", K came along. That is a whole 7 years in the cradle roll class! Keke!

When K was still a foetus, Loving L would come to me almost every night before bedtime, and sing this song to his baby sister. Maybe because of this, K likes this song a lot and was able to do the twinkle star hand action when she was about 8 months old. She was also able to add in the last word sound which I would pause for her to fill in.

One day in August - while singing this song with K- I got all emotional and cried. It was as if God was speaking to me through the song, telling me how precious she is to Him. Yes, K came to us with Down Syndrome, but I have also learnt to embrace that fact. God must have His reason for giving us this sweet little character. Though with her genetic condition, it didn't make us love her any less than how we love our two older ones.

She is who she is, and she is the star in our family.
The most adored one by her two siblings.

Wouldn't you agree with me that this party theme is so apt?
