Healthy Kiwigarden and Mother Earth snacks for children (and adults!)
Tuesday, October 28, 2014Hubby and I are the kind of parents who allow our kids to snack so long as they do not go overboard or binge on unhealthy snacks. We have a snack drawer that piles up with snacks (very quickly!) from generous aunties at church, and from birthday parties. However, there are some snacks we definitely disapprove of, like sweets that are nothing but just sugar and artificial colouring, or snacks that are over generous with their salt and artificial flavouring. I'll reveal a little secret here - we do throw away snacks we deem unhealthy for the kids, so please do not indulge them.
Recently, we received some snack samples for the kids from the people at Foodpath and we were delighted! More snacks to munch but healthier too!
We love these freeze-dried apples slices and yoghurt drops! I am happy that the amount of sugar, sodium and fat content is lower than that of the usual brand we buy from. Yes, I do check the amount of nutrients before I choose any food product. It's a Biology teacher thing lah. Ch commented that the ones from Kiwigarden taste more natural and are like the real thing too. The best part is, they come in small, individual packs which make it easy to bring around, and I don't have to worry that the snacks will go soft if the kids can't finish them soon enough.
The Mother Earth range of snacks tend to be on the sweeter side, but they are great as tummy fillers. Hubby and I love the Baked Oaty Slices as each bar comes in just the right portion and is not too dry. It also has the right sweetness level for us.

Foodpath is about natural, gourmet food products from New Zealand. The company promises products that are largely free from artificial colours and flavours and where feasible, free from preservatives as well, so they are excellent for everyone who wants to eat healthy. Products like the Mother Earth range are mainly sold through supermarkets like Cold Storage, Jason's Market Place and FairPrice Finest. The Kiwigarden range will be available at 1010 Mother & Child Essentials stores (Seletar Mall and City Square Mall) when they open at the end of this year. You can also get them online.
Ah, how can you resist these healthier alternatives right? Now is a chance for you to get them! Foodpath has kindly agreed to sponsor a hamper of their snacks worth $80 to one blessed reader of Simply Lambchops! It will look something like this, with a selection of cereals, spreads, nuts, snacks, relishes and fruit concentrates!
